stuff and nonsense

mood: meh

  • I'm trying hard to feel the Hobbit movie love, I could have done without the Denny's and Microsoft tie-ins. But the six-week pre-filming Dwarf Book Camp has interesting possibilities, and here's a checklist of which dwarf is which. Speaking of which, Happy Birthday to caras_galadhon!
  • I noticed that Photobucket is sticking people's "real" names in the titles of pages, even when the name isn't visible otherwise. They did that to a person in LoTriPS, she was Not Happy to find out about that. Delicious was doing a similar kind of auto-personalization recently, so if you are keeping your fannish and other online personas separated, go check both sites!
  • Dominic Monaghan's trying to be the David Attenborough for the next generation, he has a show about nature and rare animals, Dom's Wild Things. British people can watch it on Fridays or online, it's coming to BBCA and Canada in January. I happen to know that tunnel bear works too.
  • found somewhere: a serious survey on non-monogamy (link anonymized)</a>
  • A friend's interest was piqued by Sean Bean in Accused and she is looking for reliable and positive resources on cross dressing that might answer some respectful questions. Any good communities or sites?
  • Apparently Rachel Weisz and Viggo will be acting together in the next Cronenberg film, that much combined seriousness and gorgeousness makes me sigh! Also, smartass Robert Pattinson.
  • ways to make LiveJournal behave itself, using the URL parameter style=mine to avoid seeing the crappy wide interface for a while at least.

Nice to hear from you - you always have such interesting information to share.

I am waiting to see how the The Hobbit unfolds as well. I'm not all worked up about it, at least not yet, but maybe that awaits me in the future. I want to see it succeed of course, but I'm unsure how to pair it with my current fandom fascinations. I'm very protective of them.

I'm looking forward to Dominic's little wildlife adventure show when it becomes available in the States. I hope that goes well for him, too.

There's a program called TunnelBear that lets you view sites as though you were in another country... Also I think I got this from Dom's twitter, a set of very interesting links http://www.dailyflix.net/index.php?%2Ftopic%2F51660-wild-things-with-dominic-monaghan-2012%2F I've been very good about buying DVDs of series that I preview before it's available here: a lot cheaper than BBCA but still not being a freeloader :-)

P.S. A question occurs to me. Can anyone tell me how to remove an app from my iphone? I can't seem to find the right option. I'm not in love with the LJ mobile app, and I would just as soon get rid of it for now. :(

If your iphone isn't full, it's probably not worth it to remove an app. But if you are sure you'll never need it again, try the instructions here: http://alvinalexander.com/blog/post/page-1/how-to-delete-remove-uninstall-iphone-3g-application

Oh thank you, I'll do it! I was going to just Google it, but of course I didn't get around to it yet today. *g*

After thinking about this for awhile longer I finally got around to doing it today. It was so easy with you pointing me in the right direction. Thank you again - I may down load it again in the future, possibly when I'm not so mad at it. :(

Teenboy is counting the days till The Hobbit. Days, hours and minutes now. He's watched all 3 of LotR extended versions TWICE to get ready.

Obsessed? Oh yes.

Loved the Robert Pattinson stuff - you have to like him.

I need a Hobbit Cast icon! Girlchild is gently interested, I almost wish she was obsessed so I could be with her.

RPrattz is such an odd duck, and he truly does not give a shit, it makes me reluctantly fond of him.

I know just what you mean about Robert Pattinson, you have to like a guy who really doesn't care.

I've been keeping an eye on Dom's twitter for news about the show... he posts some very odd and random things. And some very interesting pictures when Billy was visiting. Waiting for January when I can see it.

Thanks very much for the heads up on Photobucket. I went in and sure enough, there were all my "real" particulars with my "fake" persona. So that's been amended.

Thanks too for the dwarf primer. It's getting so exciting. The trailer in 3D was shown this afternoon when I went to see The Life of Pi :)

I'm not looking forward to the Bombur fat dwarf jokes, but overall, I think it will be a nice movie trilogy. Not LOTR, but then, what is?

Where are the real names showing up in photobucket? I'm not seeing anything, but that could be me looking in the wrong place (or maybe I never gave them my name; I don't really know *g*). I will probably never have a chance to see Dom's show, but I'm hoping it does really really well. He seems very excited about it and I know animals and insects are such a passion for him.

Thanks for giving me a hand on my cross dressing curiosity!

The place I saw the person's name was in the title of the window when I was browsing their album. It's not a place people look often, but it shows up in History and if you Bookmark a page, and someone said it was on their Photobucket profile page.

I like to help out!

The only thing that seems to show for me is my username so either they haven't updated my account yet or I'm ok. Do you think maybe they had linked their facebook or twitter account with photobucket, and that's why their real name was showing?

Yeah, something like that. Mine was never linked to my name, so it doesn't *have* to happen.

Thank you so, so much for the lovely birthday wishes, and please forgive me for taking so long to say so. I was pulled under by all sorts of offline stuff, and then let everything overwhelm me. *scuffs toe* I absolutely appreciate the very kind sentiment, and I hope you know how much it means to me. ♥

Oh please never worry about that kind of thing with me! I'm just glad you are escaping the offline and overwhelming problems and are OK. Welcome back!
