mood: exhausted but happy

Second part of the Elijah-Sean show on Sunday night, the night I became a total fangirl. Yes, I have an Elijah picture signed to me. And I love it.

teasing Sean about the size of his brain...

"We love each other, guys"
They hug.
Sean walks over to Elijah and sweeps him into a cinema kiss, back to the audience, we can't see what's going on back there, and it's over very quickly.
Sean sits down on his stool again and says "that's not the first time."

Question about favorite places in New Zealand
Sean - Queenstown
Elijah - agrees, talks about extreme sports, didn't bungie jump, did snowboard and a bunch of other stuff, four wheeling, fishing

Elijah didn't jump out of airplanes, says because "I'm a pussy."
Sean scolds him for language use.

Sean managed to get himself snagged on a fishhook, he was going to cut it out but the others got it out for him.

Talking about music, how good it was to have at the end of the day when they were wrapping out for 45 minutes after filming. Dom and Elijah got to DJ some parties together, and some clubs. They liked to jam together, Billy plays and sings and writes songs. Someone had a drum kit and they had fun. Elijah says something about Zeppelin and the new album, no one else had heard it yet. "awesome".

Q: Did Elijah really not get Tig?
Elijah - only caught on six or seven months later, that it was all a lie,

Q: do they still play cup?
Elijah - Yes, box has a cup for playing it.

Q: Why did Sean do the short film. Did he not have enough to do?

Elijah starts giggling and laughing and can't stop, he's falling off his stool, covering the microphone, Sean calls him loopy. Elijah giggles intermittently through the rest of the talk.

Sean says that the second day of filming, he heard the lighting guy Brian Bosgrove say "Why don't you put some light on the little bloke in the tree." Sean thought his voice and face were great and wanted to do something with him. And Peter Jackson had so many cameras and units, said that people could use them on weekends, that's how he got started. Tells about Fon (?), the body double for Billy (?), was a great person, worked so hard, no one would ever see her face, he wanted to show how beautiful she was.

Q: Has Elijah read the books? [LOTR]
Elijah - "I'd like not to answer that." When he got to New Zealand, he was surrounded by Tolkien's world, it seemed sort of superfluous to read every word.
Elijah - "Forgive me?"
Sean points out he read out loud to Elijah, and Elijah did read the first book and a half, that.

Sean tells how graduated college with a degree in American History. He'd never heard of Tolkien. When his agent said something about the Hobbit, he got it confused with the Phantom Tollboth.

Q: what do they think of Pirates of the Caribbean?
Elijah - I'm not a huge fan of the movie. Orlando did a great job of course.

Sean - I grew up in LA, went to Disneyland all the time, Pirates was my favorite ride there.
Elijah - Mine too.
Sean - I was so jealous of Orlando -- fucking Orlando got to be in that movie. And in Troy.

Q: Were there any props you stole?
Sean + Elijah - NO! Ian Holm stole the keys to Bag End, both the big and little sets.

Q: will the auditions be on the DVD?
Probably on the extended trilogy DVD set, auditions, deleted scenes.

Q: Did the costumes smell?
Sean - got allergic to the wool, histamine reaction.
Elijah - His smelled like Frodo, he liked the smell and the texture of the clothes, they were special.

Q: did they recognize the smell of each other?
Sean - Hobbits are very in touch with each other's pheromones. They can tell when they are randy. Horny little hobbits.

Q: going to the TORN Oscar party?
Elijah - missed it twice, didn't know the others were going, was out of town this year. Next time, definitely!

Q: about meeting Ozzie Osbourne
Elijah - he was very nervous, such a fan, worried about understanding him. It was good.

Q: what would you change about your performances?
Sean - I'd do better.
Elijah - reassures Sean, and says there are always things you can do better.
Sean - I wouldn't have put on as much weight.

Q: do they see other cast members?
Elijah - pretty regularly
Sean - (jokes) airports, restaurants... [other places]... photo shoots.
Dom lived with my brother for two years. I sold him my car, BMW something. I told him it needed a new top.

Q: about directing Angel episodes
Sean - liked it very much, directed the hell out of the fight scenes

Q: what do you do with the gifts from fans?
both - keep them
Sean - my favorite was a book from a fan at Comic con, it was a first edition signed copy of Douglas Adams' "So Long and Thanks for All the Fish". Started collecting antique first editions.

Q: about least favorite movie
Someone: "Flipper"
Elijah - You *had* to mention Flipper. (closes his eyes). I did it for the dolphins.
Sean - did a movie called Dish Dogs, it was a very bad movie.

Q- Peter Jackson a Beatles fan?
Sean - yes. Right at the beginning, he took Sean aside and said that if the hobbits were Beatles, he'd be Ringo. And gave him Hard Day's Night to watch.
Elijah - there was a ring in that. spooky.

Sean's phone rings. He answers. It's his brother, Mackenzie. Sean asks for questions for him.

Q - Is Dom difficult to live with?
Mac - Not any more difficult than any other hobbit.

[some stuff here with Mac that I missed]

Q - what new projects are they working on?
Elijah - Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind [he reels off the cast and director and writer]. It's going to be weird,
Sean - I'm in a TV show, Jeremiah, I directed one and was in thirteen of them.

I also did a movie called "Fifty First Kisses" [says who's starring] I play the brother, who's sort of addicted to steroids and speaks with a lisp. [demonstrates]

Q - what about the stuff on the internet about you?
Sean - next question
Sean - I guess you want to talk about the homosexual stuff.
Elijah - I didn't know anything about the stories me and Dom about three months ago. It was the funniest thing I've ever heard in my life. Stuff about contracts with New Line and Dom dating his sister to cover up. Shakes head and giggles hysterically a lot.

Sean - we first heard about the rumors from Ian in New Zealand.
Elijah - there were rumors about all the Hobbits being gay. We just played it up, thought it was funny, hysterical.
Sean - why is it that when men are friends, there's all this gay stuff?

Sean - and there are other things online, some people do this stream of
consciousness stuff, they have pairings. It's all right, as long as they're not hurting anyone, there's nothing wrong with that.

[missed the next thing]

Q - who would you like to talk to at this convention?
Sean - Talked to Peter Weller, Robocop, until 2:30 am. He knows amazing stuff about Renaissance history.

Q - disappointed not to have a solo song? Going to have a song in ROTK?
A - not answering

Q - is tolkien's environmental message too extreme?
Elijah - the message really resonated with me in the second film
Sean - stuff about the orcs being great at technology but how it's not enough, there has to be balance, places to go in the wild.

Q - who would you want to meet?
Elijah - various bands. I know who you want to meet, Sean.
Sean - who?
Elijah - the President of the United States.
Sean - yes, or Kofi Annan, someone political

Q - who would you be if you could be a creature in middle earth?
Sean - Treebeard
Elijah - definitely an Ent.

Q - favorite location in New Zealand?
Elijah - MIlford Sound is beautiful

Sean - Wellington's great too
Elijah - I want to buy a house there
Sean - do it
Elijah - roommates?
Sean - yes, please

Q - is the movie long?
PJ finished last night, sort of.

Blooper reel -- there's already been a short one, longer one likely. Peter Jackson's working on a "Making of" film. Someone else seems to be as well.

Q - what was the hardest scene to film?
Sean - Council of Elrond, hard to make it dynamic
Elijah - On the mountainside with you

Q - would Tolkien be proud of the films
Sean - He sold the film rights...
Elijah - maybe
Sean - hope so, they're made with such passion

A little more about music videos and then they went off

And, oh, how lovely! Though I have trouble reading some of it, because parts are from their POV, and others are from your POV, and I'm sure that's just because you're exhausted and you wrote this while they were talking, but ah. Just thought you should know. Hope you're having a grand time!

Actually what Sean asked was how come when men get together they make so many gay jokes to each other.

BTW Avi, one of the other questions to Mack was what was it like growing up with Sean and his reply was that it was a lot shorter than Sean growing up with him as he is so much taller than Sean. Most of Mack's responses were aimed at winding up his brother.

Someone said that it was Elijah who said "Why is it that when men are friends there is always this gay stuff?" Was it definately Sean? Not that it matters.(Though, somehow it's funnier if it were said by Elijah).
