Dreamwidth invites - I have a couple left ETA none left evening of May 1st, but I should get more eventually. So, if you want them, please comment and I'll do what I can. There are already nifty new features (like comment preview, whee!) and bugs fixed daily: it's pretty exciting to be around.

The system got off to a good start in Open Beta yesterday, and it seems to be handling loads well, but it is still a beta, which means there will be bugs and we gotta report them.

A cleanup thing: If you've used an OpenID account at DWO, (example: [info]msilverstar.livejournal.com) but don't want to any more, please don't delete it -- there's no way for anyone else to remove that ID from their circle. You can log in using your OpenId account, go to the Manage Circle page and unsubscribe & remove access from all other accounts, which solves most of the problems.

BTW, OpenID accounts can't create posts (which confused me at first), so there's no current reason for anyone to subscribe to those accounts. Feel free to subscribe to this account with OpenID accounts. All my fandom stuff is public, just my personal whining is locked.

And if you've changed names from other journals to DWO, please tell me! I was mystified by one until I saw that the location is Finland.

Happy May Day in any case!

(this is a repost of a cross-post because my first one failed. It's been a week like that.)

I'm impasto over there, too...I don't plan to move or even cross-post, most likely, because I'm lazy like that and I have a permanent LJ account, but I figured I should snag my name at least. I'll poke around there when I have the time, and thank you very much for all your DW posts! They've been a great source of info for the techie-challenged people like me. :)

It may end up as the fandom happy place, and it's much less likely to be problematic than LJ's Russian overlords or the amateur systops of IJ and JF.

I will try to at least link to some more introductions to Dreamwidth, because there are some very helpful ones around. And then... there are the theme editing instructions and I go, huh?

I am rather curious to see how it all unfolds over time. I've been poking around DW and geeking out over some of the things they'd like to do (I will seriously give them my firstborn if they figure out a way to PDF journal content in an aesthetically pleasing fashion). For the moment, I'm happy to back up my stuff over there and see who and what actually emerges over there.

That's so funny, I love HTML and have never even thought making a journal into an pretty PDF! I am a very text-y person and I like to have paragraphs reflow as I resize... That feature is on their future list though.
