OMG, I went to high school with a porn star!

mood: surprised
music: kiddie show on public tv

I just found out from a news article that nice nerdy Mitzi Hartman, one of my favorite people in high school is now Nina Hartley, a heavy-duty porn star with her own web site.

Back then, we hung out together backstage and in the costume workshop and made snarky comments to each other during rehersals. I was a lot more sexually active then she was, back then (it was the 70s...)

Of course she looks nothing like she did back then:

This is the Mitzi that I hung out with (I think it's a yearbook picture)

And this is what she looks like now. Those boobs are Not Real, I can assure you. Neither are the cheekbones or the hair.

Color me astonished.

(ETA: uploaded the pictures because they disappeared from the newspaper site)

It makes my mind hurt just to think about it. I'm still the same, people who haven't seen me for 15 years recognize me. She is not the same.

You'd think she'd keep Mitzi for a porn name!

Eeee! What a shock. Now you have me wondering if someone from my school is going to end up as a porn star!

She seems happy enough. Her blog should be rated NC-17 though. Or really XXX.

Well, you have touched fame.

Are you still in contact?? How did you find out? How did you even *recognise* her??

I found her email address on the high school reunion page, I'm slowly composing a note to her. Want to make sure that I make it clear I'm not really freaked out by all this. Surprised, yes; disgusted, no. (Having read so much pr0n in the last few months makes it easier).

I've no clue, though I suspect it was started by geeks who wanted to talk about it without being caught by corporate or school word filters.

There's only one other person from high school that I'm in touch with. He ended up doing MUDs and MOOs (online text computer games and shared worlds), started a company to do online conferencing and just sold it to Microsoft.
