ETA: I'm so bad about birthdays. HBD to the wonderful canciona, tvillingar, morebliss, and especially my dear kaydeefalls!

In the news, a fascinating article; Once more on New Line, Peter Jackson, and The Hobbit on a cinema website, about why Peter Jackson is being so aggressive in pursuing the case against New Line (lots of expenses). Which links to this Variety article: New Zealand actors sue New Line - despite millions of dollars in sales of lunchboxes, T-shirts, caps and other LOTR gimcrack, there was -- gasp! -- zero "net merchandising revenue." Actors suing include Craig, Mark, Bruce, Jed Brophy and Sarah McLeod.

Fics and recs
Pictures
  • morebliss posted birthday mathom pictures of Billy at the ROTK Wellington premiere, including one with his hand up that I can't stop looking at.

  • Someone linked to a picture of Dom laughing in his new film, "I Sell the Dead." I don't know if it's in scene or out, but he's laughing and wearing a tank top -- it's a great picture!

  • padabee has a great picspam of Billy (in that suit with the open black shirt and the satin lapels), Sean Astin, Andy, Elijah, Bernard and Liv at the 2004 National Board of Review.

And no spoilers, but I'm another one who loved Doctor Who 3x10, "Utopia". So much going on, great lines, The Doctor, Captain Jack and Martha (all looking gorgeous), allusions to old-school Doctors, just gotta squee! I watched it by myself last night and am going to watch again with my guys tonight.

Thank you SO much for the plug for lotr_fic_recs. I was just sitting here trying to figure out how to pimp it a bit. There is a real need for some kind of LotRips news vehicle like middleearthnews.

Thanks again!! If you think of any other ways to get the word out, I would appreciate the tips!

Happy to, I'm a fairly recent reader of the recs community and always miss deadlines, I'm sorry to say. capra_maritimus did post a note at monaboyd right before I was going to.

We used to have four_lobsters but people ran out of energy :-(

Between domweek (for Dom), nothing_to_say (for Billy, Dom and highlights from sundry cast members), elijah_finds for Elijah, we have most of what was on four_lobsters covered. I don't know about Sean (although I love Sean) but rakshi seems pretty strong about keeping SAnet up to date.

This leaves a bit gap for fan created material, specifically fiction. I really don't know what to do about that. I don't read enough to cover the Dom material. There are too many catagories from too many fandoms: monaboyd, domlijah, dombilijah, dom in other lotrips pairings (het and slash), jamie/geoff and other lotrips character pairings, Charlie/Claire, Lost RPF of slash/het/gen. And, of course, Dom/Evi and Dom/Mary Sue. I don't know where it all lives!

Since I read any and all pairings (including Men, Elves, and scriptwriters), I know where most of it is. But a lot is in people's personal journals, and some of that is flocked :-(

Is that in the Lost arena too or just stemming out of LotR/cast?

You know if things are locked, you just write a shorter newletter (and it's easier to write).

There is (outside of the Mary Sue/Dom or Evi/Dom which I could never find in great numbers, even locked -- perhaps you could direct me if you know) there is enough fanfic that is asking for attention to keep a newsletter full enough.

I mainly read Lotrips, and I like het, so I have some recs you might like at http://del.icio.us/msilverstar/DominicMonaghan+het.

As for the newsletter, I could fairly easily do a list of links to fic in a different del.icio.us account if you're interested in doing the rest of it. We could probably pick up four_lobsters, which already has a ton of people watching.

Thanks for the link to the Billy pics!

That one of Dom from the movie is a behind-the-scenes pic that's up at the re-vamped site for "I Sell the Dead". They've got a trailer there, too...!

Interesting to read Dom's bio there - it doesn't mention "Lost"!

In a way, I'm sorry it's not a movie scene, Dom's so genuinely happy in it.

Dom's bio is lifted from IMDB, I read that somewhere.

Those articles about PJ and New Line are a bit infuriating, but very informative-- I'm glad you linked them, thanks!

Yeah, I was tending to assume that New Line was wrong, but now, I'm sure of it. Still, if the rights revert to Saul Zaentz, we might get visits by Peter, Fran and Philippa. You know I'd eat at the Westside Cafe a lot more. I saw a lot of musicians I kinda recognized there when I worked down there.

The photo you are hot linking is from the Behind the Scenes section of the site. So I would guess out of scene. Besides the body language seems very Dom.
