There's a meme floating around (as memes are wont to do) about favorite characters in various books and movies. And I tried to figure out my favorite characters in the Lord of the Rings, and failed miserably.

I love them all. From Frodo to Gandalf to Fatty Bolger to Tom Bombadil to Aragorn to Elrond to Galadrial to Theodin to Eowyn to Faramir to Sam to Gimli to Merry to Arwen to Legolas to Pippin...I even have some sympathy for Denethor, Snaga and Grishnakh. Can't possibly choose a favorite.

And apparently that all-inclusive philosophy came with me to Lotrips. I'm not complaining.

I'm definitely like that with lotrips... with Lord of the Rings, my favourite has to be Glorfindel. But of course, that's in the books, and he doesn't really appear in the films. In the films it would be Aragorn. But I'm much more of a book person than a film person. Also in the books I really like Gildor.

There's far too little about both Glorfindel and Gildor in the books.

It always saddens me that Tolkien never wrote another book about the Elves... like, a Silmarillion-type account of the later ages. Not to mention the period before they sailed, after the destruction of the ring. I'm always curious about all that, and whatever happened with Celeborn at the end. I don't like Celeborn that much in the films, but I love him in the books. My second attempt at FPS, which is in progress, is Celeborn/Legolas--a pairing that would make me cringe in filmverse, but I can see it working in the books.
