music: something breton on the radio

OMG, link from undone27 to the AICN report of Peter Jackson's talk in Sydney.

from ringwraith:
However, the absolute highlight of the evening was the never-before-seen "behind the scenes footage" which Peter brought along. Shown in three sections, the footage turned out to be a blooper reel, which Peter told us had never been seen by an audience before. And, boy, were we one lucky audience. You know that feeling you get when you've laughed so much you're face is kind of contorting and twitching, and your stomach is burning and you start to think "I wonder if its possible to die from laughter?"...? Thats how funny this stuff was. Some highlights....

* Merry lying in bed with a three-foot-long morning glory, soon to be joined under the sheets by a fascinated Pippin

* Ian McKellen as Gandalf: If we do not join forces against Sauron's army, the outtcome will be so..incredibly...shit!

* Viggo mortensen bumbling lines and saying "fuck" a lot.

* Liv Tyler swearing in slow-motion

* Orlando Bloom as Leglas being very ungraceful with his bow and arrow, messing up take after take.

* The following dialogue: Aragorn: The tracks lead...into Fangorn forest. Gimli: Fangorn! Legolas: What the fuck are they doing in there?

* Ian McKellen as Gandalf the Grey pulling his robes aside ro reveal his bare legs and underwear, then performing many provocative poses.

* McKellen again at the end of ROTK when he is putting the crown on Aragorn. The camera pans up and we see that Gandalf has gone Hollywood and been to a stylist...I don't know exactly how to describe hair, but lets just say it was very blonde, very tall and very full of pink flowers.

then from blind_llama:

On top of the ones mentioned, highlights included :

1. A randomly cut together piece where Aragorn is fighting orcs and SAURON when suddenly Aragorn screams ENOUGH! and pulls out a machine gun...'This is for FRODO!!!' and proceeds to scream whilst shooting sauron which ultimately leads to the one ring being shot off. Doesnt make sense, sure, but fuck it was funny.

2. Ian McKellan showing off his undies and bare legs while prancing around in his Gandalf costume.

3. Behind the scenes footage of Billy Boyd and Domonic Monoghan in one of their trailers with their pants down measuring penisis. A blow up man doll is in the background. [OMG, canon! - MS]

4. Ian McKellan bitching about mundane 'war scene' lines.

5. Viggo Mortensen and Bernard Hill looking down at the thousand plus men in return of the king (Blue screen in this case), when their attention soon diverts to Viggo's penis which is 'sticking out'.

6. Sean Astin admidst one of his Return of the King 'emotional' scenes, trips and breaks off a chunk of styrofoam rock off the wall.

7. A Peter Jackson doll instructs people how to do their scenes with speech along the lines of "blah blah blah I'm Peter Jackson blah blah blah'.

I can't remember anymore. Around 10-15 minutes of bloopers in all. It was a great night.

ETA: Two more reports at TORn. The second one is all about the bloopers!

I so want to see it. andraste_oz must. report. all. now!

All here, m'dear!

The bloopers were definitely a wonderful highlight, and all the more so because so much of it was stuff we wouldn't get to see on a DVD because of inherent naughtiness :)
