fic recs and more

Gorgeous ongoing Dom/Elijah series by sophrosyne31, the first five linked and then Condensation (sixth). Some ficlets are NC-17, some lightweight D/s. The series has a lovely combination of friendship, lust, smart-ass humor and love. My favorite so far is Compensation: He finds himself making one of the faces Elijah made, when Dom snapped his teeth onto Elijah’s wide pale nipple and, glaring up, saw Elijah bring his brows down and his eyes widen, almost fierce, intent. Only the helpless opening of his mouth told Dom that this was joy.

Devoted Yours (Viggo/Elijah, very AU, R for sex, by cleverclogs). Viggo is a photographer who sees the ghost of Elijah in certain selected pictures... Extended setting and minor characters give the main characters weight and texture and real personalities. Also, Viggo hanging screen doors. Just wow.

The Cure (3 parts). (Dom/Billy, angst in three parts, PG, by vensre) The angsty-love-lost theme between Dom and Billy has done to death but this make it new and twisty-chest and sad and sweet all at once. and even better the second time.

How Maui Slowed the Sun PG (implied), Dom/Orlando, by blythely.
A gem, short and perfect. The Maori legend takes it out of the mundane and gives it a special glow. In case you're new to all this, Orlando has a sun tattoo on the left side of his belly.

Misc

Gorgeous pictures of Sean Bean recording "Pride" (which is apparently an awful animated lion movie). He's got laugh lines and dimples and a beard and pushes all my buttons.

New vigomilly archive for Viggo/Dom, Viggo/Billy, and Viggo/Dom/Billy stories. I like these pairings and trio, and think there's always room for more good stories!

An RPS crack!fic POEM that covers everything from Billy's accent to the bad!Karl stereotype.

Karl is also slash-friendly! Best quote: Ehh, whatever floats your boat really! I mean, I guess it is an art form in itself kind of.

Sean Astin said at C4 last year: and there are other things online, some people do this stream of consciousness stuff, they have "pairings". It's all right, as long as they're not hurting anyone, there's nothing wrong with that. That's a gratuitous quote, but dammit I was there.

Some fascinating discussions about the questions of reality, role-playing and fanfiction using the images of real people. Talk of signifiers and avatars and all sorts of interesting aspects of what we do. In various journals: almostnever, JF fandom lounge, kita0610, sweptawaybayou.

I'm not sure if I make sense, but this is how I see it: The role playing I do in The Est and Sable Knot is not really a game, it's a set of collaborative fiction encounters in an ongoing framework. It's like a soap opera where the characters write themselves.

norah's Harry Potter slash recs

airgiodslv's LOTRiPS recs for her mom (great list)

And finally, for great yay!, rodneyscat finally posted her Recs page! It's Hobbity (heavy on Elijah) but has others too: she's got good taste and you won't go wrong.

Apparently, cutting my flist means I get around to posting recs. That and my browser crashed with about ten windows open, some of them with a bunch of tabs. So I lost track of stuff.

it was fun! I'm trying to store recs as I go along instead of having to go back every time.

Now the bad news is, I don´t have time today to go through all the stuff you´re reccing!!!! Will catch up eventually though.

I did have a look at the Karl quote though - I wasn´t there for all his sessions during the FF so I had missed this one. Not only does he approve of it (well at least he does not disapprove), I get the clear impression he has read some of them too...

I love his attitude and yes, he's clearly read some. *cringes* I hope some of the better and lighter stuff...

we all filter through our own points of view, I find that part almost as fascinating as the way we can all write in under the same constraints and come up with so many original and different stories!

I always have this odd combination of sexy/icky feelings when I hear them asked questions about RPS. *squirm*

Well, if there's anything that could make me read a lotrps fic it would be Dom/Viggo/Billy: such unusual and somehow toothy pairings! And Karl -- *loves* What a dag, though.

would love to have you back, maybe you'll come after a vacation! But even if I'm still focused on one fandom, I read all your stuff and won't let you stop being friends.

I know this is an old post and I should therefore stay out of the comment box, but just have to say... Pride rocks. I <3 it. It has Kate Winslet with a stupid voice. And Sean Bean as fandom!Bean, just with more lion, and, and, and.

Stepping away from the comment box. Just scouring the net for dom/orlando recs, don't mind me.

Hmmm. I have a five-year-old. She'd probably love it. And I adore his voice.
