OK, I'm being a meme sheep. Or lemming.

Ask me anything. Ask anonymously -- I have IP address logging turned off. I won't promise to answer everything, but if there's something you've always wondered about me, I am eager to know what it is.

Interesting question! My fourth and fifth answers are very different than if you'd asked a year ago.

Middle-aged and OK with it.
Nice, supportive, friendly, helpful.
Smart and widely-knowledgeable.

Depressed & pissed off about that.
Surprising (fandom, RPS, writing fiction)

I see myself as a person with thoroughly messed-up brain chemistry, doing the best I can. I miss my old self, being able to work hard, having a good memory, reading actual books, spending time with RL friends. But this year, I found LOTR movie fandom, LJ, RPS, a passel of great friends, the inspiration to write decent fiction, and a vastly improved sex life (within my very long monogamous marriage). Those things cushioned the fall.

Two questions. What is your favourite fan-fic ever (slash, gen, het, whatever)? And do you leave comments on everything you read, or only those you like?

I have way too many favorites. I can't possibly choose. At least a hundred I'd write out in longhand if that was the only way to have them.

I don't leave comments unless I can be positive in some way, shape or form. Life is hard enough without being sniped at. Sometimes I squee, and when inspired I try to express what I like about a story, occasionally just give encouragement.

Is there any pairing you cannot bear to read about?Which One? Why?

I get the best questions.

I will read any pairing in LOTRiPS, with pleasure. What I can't read are badly-written stories. Not a lot of people can do good characterizations of the less-well-known actors, such as Craig, Bernard, Karl, Lawrence, even Miranda. They tend to be cliches and I find that deeply annoying. Even factual inaccuracies bother me less than trite writing.

Guess this is a request rather than a question. If it works out while you're in LA, I'd like to discuss some of what you mentioned in the last paragraph of your first response. If you like, you can have the backrub or footrub of your choice in return.

*hugs*

I'll talk about myself any time. I'm not shy around fandom friends. We could do email or phone before if you really want to -- I'm deeply curious now!
