Top Gear, definitely fun

mood: amused

BBCA is showing Top Gear, and I wasn't in the mood for anything complicated, so I put on the Best of 06 - 07, and my husband and teenboy wandered over, as they do. We bonded over the amphi-car project. So I do understand the fic a bit more, but I just can't slash the guys myself...

Oh god, it's far from slashable (although there are people who do!) but it's great, great fun. I love it - the highlight of my Sunday evening at the moment.

There are people on my flist that do! Actually the one I like best is a self-proclaimed mary-sue, with fabulous dialog.

Oh I freely admit that I'm on various TG communities - slash included. Don't really read them, but I love watching the way that people go about slashing them, if that makes sense. The way they see slash where there really is none. And the fact I love the programme really helps.

I couldn't slash them either - they're just so incandescently blokey - but god I LOVE them. I think if I ever had to seriously interact, let alone travel, with Jeremy Clarkson I would KILL HIM A LOT, but I adore him and his "break it, break it WHEEE!" mentality so much.

They were showing early series here a little while back, including James May's first season, and the difference in dynamic is astounding. It was much less the "everyone pick on James" show, and May was all sorts of snarky and... it was sort of boggling. Anyway.

incandescently blokey -- yes defo. I can't even tell which one is which yet, but I love the voice of the one who does most of the narrating, the one with the speed fetish. It's just the thing to watch with my guys, though kidlet liked Brainaic better. The snark, though, is timeless :-D

The tall shouty one is Jeremy(I think this is who you're referring to, though richard also likes speed), the short bouncy one is Richard and the one in my icon is James. :D

As pointed out, Jeremy Clarkson is the chap who really leads the show and loves going around corners sideways shouting "POWAH!" (Another common line: "That means it can do this." *accelerates*) Richard Hammond ("Hamster") is the short one who was also on Brainiac. James May is he of the luscious locks and sensibleness.

Or: Jeremy made the Toyboata, Richard made the campervan-canalboat float for about half a minute, and James turned his stylish car into a stylish yacht. *G*

I think part of the fun of slashing them is that it's just so incredibly ludicrous. Well, that and they give us so much material to work with, what with all the 'gay' jokes and the questionable wardrobe choices (did you see Jeremy's jacket in 12x02?). :D:D:D I mean, it's just too easy to imagine Jeremy saying, "Gay sex. How hard can it be?" *snicker*

And relating to cupiscent's comment, I adore snarky!James. :D:D:D

Oh sorry that was 12x01 for the little Miss Saigon number Jeremy was wearing. *snicker*
