mood: annoyed

Via beizy and the Creation Ent. calendar:

Unfortunately ORC 2008 has been cancelled.

We appreciate the continued support of LOTR fans and hope to renew specific conventions for you when The Hobbit films are produced. Refunds to those that ordered tickets for ORC 2008 will be made on credit cards shortly. We regret the inconvenience.

I never liked Creation and thought they were an unpleasant combination of incompetent and greedy. But I went to the three events and had a fabulous time, so feel quite sad that we won't have the amazing combination of actors and fans again.

ETA: we'll have to have some fan get-togethers, even if the actors are bored with the whole thing. I know some people are thinking about organization, so let's hope we can do it.

This is where One Ring Net themselves need to step up, get a con committee together and try to do a fan run con; Creation isn't the end all and be all.

Ditto to what you say about Creation.

The best part in all this has been meeting people (famous and fans alike) and the ensuing friendships.

Yes! The people are what count, but it's good to have some structure and some entertainment ;-)

I have to admit that I kind of ran out of steam on the professional con front - but I don't think I'll ever get sick of fan cons. So count me in, man (and that includes help with organizing, if support services are required).

Creation is a big disappointment all around--and obscenely priced. *snugs*

That's a given, the question is "now what?" I hope we can make something happen.

*sees your Billy bum... and raises you an animation!*

To be honest, I was surprised the cons went on as long as they did, you know? But, damn... I'm going to miss them!

Hee! He was so teasing us.

I was so negative about the last one, I almost feel guilty. But not quite.

Naaaah... they didn't cancel it because of your remarks. Or because of low pre-registration (because it would be too soon for that).

I'm guessing they now have the numbers showing how much they did or didn't make at the last one, and they weren't as good as they'd hoped, so they figured they need to wait for the franchise to get a shot in the arm ("The Hobbit") before doing more. Interestingly, it may give more creedence to the fact that they're going to actually do one...!
