wibbling about ORC

I'm trying to decide if I'm going to the One Ring Celebration (it's close and Billy's band will be playing there), and if so, what kind of tickets to buy.

Yes!
  • Saturday (Billeh!)
  • Beecake concert on Saturday night (reserved seats?)
Not sure:
  • Brobdingnagian Bards, who are playing Friday night, recommended by cara_chapel
  • Friday day? Not sure if I can make it, really depends on who's talking.
  • Saturday late party? Missed it last time, sounded like fun
  • Saturday morning Billy Breakfast? (I got really shy last time)
  • Sunday day? depends on who will be talking
  • Suggestions? Who else is going, and to what?

No more autographs or photo-ops: I've been there, done that -- and it's just too intimate for me. I'll hang with the girls and take really fantastic notes at the talks instead.

Okay.

I, and alchemilla and westmoon are doing just about everything - Wizard Circle tickets; Billybrunch; Beecake reserved seats; all the parties that are included in the ticket, i.e., Brobdignagian Bards; I think we are doing photo opps with at least Dave and Andy (Billy's we got in January and the January before that).

You say you were shy last time you did Billy's Brunch? That doesn't necessarily mean you will be this time, does it? And if you are, so what? You still get to enjoy the fun, watching and listening and being the observer who notes everything but doesn't get pulled in. I'd say, go for it :)

We are there all three days, naturally, so you can always hang out with us if you like. Andy is only doing Sunday - and he's fantastic, as I'm sure you remember from C4. Seize the day, darling, and go for it.

I'd recommend the Billy breakfast. You don't have to say anything to him, but I enjoyed the extra time with him, both on stage doing the "presenting" of the items, and the rush of having him come to the table.

Is the Saturday party connected with the Beecake show at all? My experience with the parties is that they're sort of lame, but I did miss the one where Sean and Elijah popped onstage at various points!

Does it help that I'm coming all the way from Australia and would love to meet you?

I'm doing everything that I can get my sticky little hands on, and if you're there we can be shy together, because I'm all but certain I'm going to clamp up all shy like when I actually get there.

I am definitely going, and my airfare is covered, so I won't be driving up (just to let you know, since we talked about it earlier).

I have a wizard's pass, and I'll be going to the Beecake concert (reserved seats), the charity breakfast, and very possibly the Brobdingnagian Bards concert on Friday night. I'm flying in Friday morning/afternoon, so I very well may skip that to catch up with friends. I'm doing all the autographs (since they're included) and a photo with both Billy and Andy.

I think that's it. :D Yay, I'm glad you'll be there. I can't wait to see you.

The problem is that the party is $55 unless you have a Wizard's Circle ticket :-( That's way out of line, and just feels like greed on Creation's part.

I'm looking at plane tickets for Friday and for Saturday morning. Great that it's right by the airport, saves a lot of stress. Still wibbling about the rest though.

Ooh, you must do the brunch. And Billy's day. You really must. It's...SIGH. Happy.

I believe Andy is Sunday, and I want to assume David is Friday, but you never know, really.

I'm going to the concert and the brunch. That's it for my extras. :)

I'm pretty much convinced about Billy Day, and the concert. If David's Friday, I'd hate to miss that. *wibbles*

And getting to read your notes is great for those of us not going :)

But I hear you about the awkwardness. I think the only stand-in-line thing I've ever tried that wasn't somewhat awkward was a book signing with Neil Gaiman. I always feel like I should apologize for something ....

I envy you all going to ORC :). I would love to see Beecake live.

No more autographs or photo-ops: I've been there, done that -- and it's just too intimate for me.

Funny you say that, because I don't think I would like to actually meet any of the guys in person. I'm not sure if I would be able to slash them anymore after that (although I know there are plenty of writers who have met them.) I'd rather keep them at a safe celebrity-distance.

Yeah, I really want to see them! But I wish you could come too.

I've "met" them but it's a very artificial situation. I also dislike the cattle call aspect.
