Title: Cockaleekie Soup (drabble)
Fandom: LOTR RPS
Pairing: Billy Boyd / Viggo Mortensen
Rating: G
Feedback: yes please!
Disclaimer: not true, I made it up
Archive: yes, go ahead, just please let me know
Notes: Takes place in my Billy-Viggoverse. Thanks to cara_chapel for the very helpful beta, and wrisomifu for helping me get over my block and just write the damn thing (it's been germinating for years).

It's not like the movies: Viggo's not having nightmares of drowning or flashbacks of water pushing him down. He could go back to work now, if he wasn't so damn tired, if his chest didn't hurt from throwing up water. When they released him from the hospital he laughed at the wheelchair, but his legs were rubbery when he walked to the car. Billy's shoulder was all that kept him upright.

The sunlight streaks in through Billy's bedroom window, warming the clean dry sheets. Viggo can smell chicken soup. "Cockaleekie," Billy says, kissing him, "like my Gran made.".

This is a nice warm little piece. You are about the only one I know who writes Viggo/Billy. It's an unusual pairing and not one that I truly get, but your stories with the two of them have this nice hum that I quite like.

And the only other time I have ever heard of cockaleekie soup was in another slash story, I think a Dom/Elijah story. So...is there really such a thing as cockaleekie soup or is it a "made for slash" type of urban legend thingy?

it's all true! it's just a sort of chicken soup. it's v common here in scotland, although as usual i didn't realise it was a scottish thing until right this second.

Nice hum - that's pretty much what I'm going for, thank you!

I've picked up a zillion odd facts that wander into my stories, cockaleekie soup is one :-)

I also remember that you found me a recipe for eggless chocolate chip cookies for one of my stories. Slash Recipes! You could compile a cookbook and we would all buy a copy.

This is very very sweet. Domestic fic is always a treat when it's well done. I adore Billy making his gran's soup <3

Thank you so much! We're all shaped by families, especially in comfort foods.

I like this. Billy taking care of Viggo, taking care of him even though Viggo pretends he's strong. Very nice.

Yay! Also: not drowning, aways a good feeling.

Glad you liked it. Why do so few fics deal with Viggo almost drowning? It's hurt-comfort based on reality!
